Squires Gate-based Weru UK – a distributor for the Weru Group has announced a successful year of trading despite the many challenges of 2020.

With the showroom being temporarily closed for most of the past year, the business worked resourcefully to ensure minimum delay for their customers undertaking construction and renovation projects during the pandemic.

Not wanting to let its trade or individual customers down, the team conducted remote surveys of projects by connecting with builders or home owners via Skype and Facetime, and put into play a series of additional checks to ensure measurement accuracy.

Weru UK said the process worked well, to the extent that a number of high value projects throughout the UK were fulfilled at the production site in Germany.

One example of their remote working success, was a 56 window project for a large bespoke residential build in the North East, which was surveyed via Skype by the Weru UK team, and is now complete.

Graham Lindsay, MD of Weru UK said: “For the past 12 months, we operated effectively through honing the remote surveying process, and maintained a steady flow of production orders through to Germany on this basis.

"The system worked very well and we are pleased to report some surprising positives. The automated robotic production at its sites in Germany ensured continuity of production and, we maintained safe working distancing due to the very low ratio of manpower per m2 within the vast frame production areas and glazing lines.

“I'm pleased to report that Weru UK delivered a strong set of 2020 results, but this could not have been possible without our strong live-link communications to the factory systems. Being in constant contact with the production facility helped us keep our customers fully informed about their projects every step of the way.”

Weru UK based at Amy Johnson Way, and established 33 years ago, serves a UK wide client base, from its national support centre, and showroom at the 8000sq ft site,.

The family business was established in 1985 and Graham Lindsay still heads the operation.
