Both payments are part of an initial £257m package supporting 1,385 venues across England.

Mr Maynard said: “I have made clear to Ministers the need to support grass roots music venues. Places like Bootleg are crucial in the development of talent and play a small but vital role in the multi-billion pound British music industry.

“At the same time I know there are many freelance workers from the entertainment and events sector who are struggling and know how important it is that they get support from Government.

"This is one of the areas where I still believe a sector-specific package is needed, to ensure these talented people, and their businesses are ready to restart the industry.”

Mr Maynard also welcomed additional support for one of the resort’s flagship arts projects.

He said: “I have visited the Art B&B and see how it brings together two of the unique attributes which make this town so special.

“This grant will help our local arts community, which has an important role to play across our communities.”

The funding for live music and art in Blackpool comes after announcements of successful bids for major entertainment providers.

The Grand Theatre has been awarded £483,666 through Arts Council England, with the Winter Gardens granted £846,000 through Historic England.

Mr Maynard said: “I know how hard the team at The Grand has worked to put together a successful bid and understand the difference this funding will make. I will continue to support our arts and entertainment community however I can and look forward to a time venues, large and small, can be full again.”
