Business help was class act for Ruth

The Fylde-based creator of a new series of educational books and DVDs for children has had free support to start her business.

Ruth Vidle, from Lytham, established Little Angel Creative in November last year.

Thanks to her experience working in school libraries, Ruth spotted an opportunity to provide modern, fun books aimed at developing primary pupils’ skills as part of the Government’s Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning initiative.

Being a writer, Ruth produced a series of 28 books and four interactive, animated DVDs for use with a whiteboard in line with the initiative.

To help start her new business, Ruth was referred to the Lancashire LEAP programme via Blackpool Council.

Lancashire LEAP is delivered by Regenerate Pennine Lancashire and Winning Pitch, as part of Boost Business Lancashire.

Ruth was got a business mentor and attended free, high-value bootcamps on business essentials, covering how to access finance, create a business plan and more.

Ruth said: “My Boost experience excelled all expectations. The seminar coaches were knowledgeable and friendly, the handouts to take away were both excellent quality and informative, and the venue was great too.”

“I learnt such a lot in so many varied areas, not just from the speakers, but also the other business people who attended the course.

“I now have some great contacts as well as a better idea of how to drive my business forward. It was exactly what I needed to get in gear and build on my initial ideas.”
