The Leisure Channel has installed state-of-the-art digital screens throughout Blackpool’s Winter Gardens after signing a six-year partnership which will also see them install screens a the new conference centre.

The Grade II star listed building with its annual footfall of over one million visitors from over 60 countries, asked The Leisure Channel to bring top end technology so they could promote upcoming shows and events, advertise local businesses, and display health and safety messages.

Instead of having to remember to take down posters after an event, the built-in technology will do it automatically.

Due to the listed status of the building, fixing screens and drilling into century old architecture was not an option. To deal with this, The Leisure Channel installed totem screens, with interactive touch displays, as well as using existing digital infrastructure within the venue.

Darren Spedding, The Leisure Channel’s director, said: “As a local firm, we’re really proud to be working with one of Blackpool’s best-loved landmark venues.

“We have brought the Winter Gardens into the digital era, and in a really subtle way too, so the new signage blends into the historic décor.

“We’re committed to helping local businesses, so as well as promoting events, shows and important messages to guests, the screens also provide a unique opportunity for local businesses to advertise to up to one million people a year, which is amazing. We’re also really excited for their Conference and Exhibition Centre to open next year.

“It’s one of the largest venues of its kind in the north of England and we’ll be installing digital signage across the two floors, and with a footfall of up to 7,000 per event, it’ll provide business across the town with a wealth of opportunities.”

Anthony Williams, sales and marketing manager at the Winter Gardens, said: “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with The Leisure Channel, a partnership that further enhances the visitor experience at the Winter Gardens through the use of their innovative display network throughout the venue.”
