Council approval has been granted to use the ground floor of the building on the corner of Central Drive and Palatine Road in Blackpool as a restaurant.
It was formerly home to a branch of the Yorkshire Bank, but more recently was occupied by Beanstalk Estate Agents which closed around January 2021, since when the building has been empty.
Now it is proposed to convert it to a restaurant which would be open daily from 11am until 11pm. Plans show an entrance and reception area, various eating areas and an open kitchen.
An application had been made for a certificate of lawfulness, which was agreed by town hall planners using delegated powers.
It means a full planning application is not necessary because the proposed use falls into the same class as previous uses of the building for planning purposes.
Meanwhile another Blackpool eaterie has secured planning permission to make alterations to its frontage.
Approval has been granted for Pablos fish and chip restaurant on the corner of the Promenade and Station Road in South Shore, to make changes to its entrance and install a glazed screen around its outdoor dining area.
The scheme also includes the removal and addition of single storey extensions.
In approving the proposals, planners said they were in keeping with the character of the area while the outdoor glazing scheme “is similar to an enclosure at the Velvet Coaster in the next block to the south.”
