Blackpool building specialist in contracts double

A Blackpool-based building services engineering specialist is going back to the classroom for its latest contract gains.

Whitehills business Ameon has landed two contracts, with a combined value of £4.7m.

It has been called in to work on the redevelopment of Castle Brook High School, in Bury, and Royton and Crompton School, near Oldham.

The company specialises in the design and installation of building services infrastructure and will provide all mechanical and electrical services for the campuses, working with main contractor Galliford Try PLC.

A key feature of both projects will be the inclusion of Hybrid Thermal Mixing ventilation systems, which are designed to provide natural ventilation and hybrid ventilation.

They ensure that the internal spaces enjoy fresh, tempered air and a comfortable environment for pupils in winter and summer months.

Recyclable air will be used to maintain temperatures, conserve energy and external ventilation, and will guarantee a cleaner air environment. Both contracts will begin at the end of this school year are due to complete in June 2019.

Ameon’s managing director, Robin Lawson, said he was delighted by new gains in the education sector.

He said: “We have a strong track record in education, gained over a number of years, and have previously worked on a series of major academies and high school projects close to our Blackpool headquarters and across the North of England; therefore our experience will stand us in good stead for both contracts.”

The schools are being developed as part of the Government’s Education and Skills Funding Agency initiative.

Ameon, founded in 1996, and whihc employs around 200 at three offices, has also been working on utilities infrastructure at the new police station project for Blackpool police.

Last month announced that it was working on a £3.75m scheme for MLDC at its Ashton Basin redevelopment project in Manchester, one of many it has won in the city.
