Hide AdSteve Wong, from United Utilities, said: “I know this news will be disappointing for many local people, but we do all need to play our part to reduce the spread of the virus.
“If we take the necessary steps now, hopefully the restrictions we all currently face will be lifted sooner rather than later and in the not-so-distant future we call all be enjoying this fantastic new facility.”
The company added work such as re-seeding and reinstatement will carry on within the park boundary, in accordance with all Government safety guidelines including social distancing.
An open day for the park planned for Saturday June 6 has also been postponed.
Around £4.5m has been spent by United Utilities improving the park with new facilities including a cafe, children’s playground, a sports area and outdoor seating areas.
