Starring Robert Powell as Hercule Poirot alongside Liza Goddard, intrigue unfolds on an English country estate following the murder of inventor, Sir Claud Amory, and the theft of his new earth-shattering formula.

Arriving at the estate just moments too late, one man immediately senses a potent brew of despair and treachery among the estate’s occupants. That man is Poirot.

In the first play written by Christie, we meet a character who went on to become one of the most famous detectives of all time and the only fictional character ever to receive a full-page obituary in the New York Times.

This year’s SOUTHPORT DRAMATIC CLUB (BAR PRODUCTION) at SOUTHPORT LITTLE THEATRE is a psychological thriller called AGNES OF GOD, written by John Pielneier and directed by Celia Timmington.

Summoned to a convent, Dr Martha Livingstone, a court appointed psychiatrist, is charged with assessing the sanity of a young nun accused of murdering her newborn.

Mother Superior Miriam Ruth keeps Agnes from the doctor, arousing Livingstone’s suspicions further.

Who killed the infant and who fathered the victim? Livingstone’s questions force all three women to re-examine the meaning of faith and love leading to a compelling climax.

Beth Milligan plays Agnes, Tracey Batchelor is Dr Martha Livingstone and Elspeth Fisher completes the cast as Miriam Ruth.
