“It really was a fantastic experience. Everyone was so supportive, especially the experienced cyclists and chaperones. The range of abilities and cycling experience was huge but I rode with two others from Deloitte and we gave each other the mental – and sometimes literal – push to get through the hardest parts and steepest hills.

“Everything else was done for us and it made a huge difference knowing that I didn’t have to think about anything apart from moving my pedals for nine days.

“My advice to anyone contemplating it is to just go for it. With a bit of training, almost anyone is capable of riding – and enjoying it. It’s an amazing opportunity to take yourself out of your comfort zone, get fit, see the country and meet some great people.”
