John Godber’s hit classroom comedy ‘Teechers’ Heads to Blackpool Grand
John Godber’s fast-paced, razor-sharp schoolyard comedy Teechers arrives at Blackpool Grand Theatre this spring as part of an exciting national tour from The John Godber Company.
A defining classic of modern British theatre, Teechers catapults audiences into the unruly, imaginative world of Whitewall Academy. Three students — Salty, Gail and Hobby — perform their own end-of-term “exam play”, lifting the lid on the triumphs, tensions and everyday absurdities of life in a British secondary school. With lightning-quick character changes, big laughs, and Godber’s unmistakable blend of satire and heart, the play remains as fresh and relevant today as when it first burst onto the scene.
This new production brings a vibrant, contemporary energy to one of Godber’s most enduring works, following in the footsteps of the company’s long-running smash hit Bouncers, which continues to captivate audiences nationwide. Fans of Godber’s signature comic style — sharp observation, punchy storytelling and warm, working-class wit — will find Teechers every bit as riotous and unforgettable.
The show arrives in Blackpool after a hugely successful year for The John Godber Company, whose recent production Do I Love You? toured to packed houses throughout 2024 and 2025. Now, Teechers looks set to continue that momentum, offering an energetic, nostalgic and laugh-out-loud night at the theatre for audiences of all ages.
