Watch award winning film maker Carol Salter's latest short film on Blackpool offering a unique portrait of the resort volunteers showing kindness to those in need

Award winning film and documentary maker Carol Salter is giving audiences a unique first chance viewing of her new film 'Left Coast' filmed in Blackpool and focusing on kindness at work for those in society 'left behind.'

Directed by Carol the short 14 minute film, takes a close look at Fylde Coast towns, as dedicated volunteers hand out food to help those in need. The film is one of a collection of 20 being shared by Uncertain Kingdom made by visionary filmmakers and offering a unique portrait of the nation today.

'Left Coast' is being made available for viewing free of charge until this evening ahead of its national release.

Her critically acclaimed feature Almost Heaven - a tender portrait of a teenager training to become a mortician in China - won Best Documentary at the British Independent Film Awards 2017 and was double-nominated for the Glashütte Documentary Award and Crystal Bear at Berlinale.

Her previous films include Unearthing the Pen (2011), which won 10 awards including Best Documentary at Encounters and the Al Jazeera Golden Award.

She is a Doc Society Fellow and recent recipient of the East End Film Festival Transit Award.

The seeds for the film began with a commission which was part of LeftCoast’s Real Estate: Micro Residency project.

Carol went on to gain a commission with The Uncertain Kingdom to see the project through to completion.

The ground-breaking anthology of twenty short films from twenty directors will be released in the UK & Ireland streaming on demand from June 1 2020.

The British Council will release the films internationally allowing their partners to view the films simultaneous to the UK release.
