Young adult romance Philophobia is set and filmed in Guy’s home town of Stroud and is an authentic coming-of-age romance, rooted in experience.

Philophobia is a picture of small town adolescence. One week of high school remains for Kai, an aspiring writer, and his friends. How they choose to spend this time awakens sexual desires, costs one of them their life and leaves them all changed forever.

A truly independent project, Philophobia was made possible by a dozen Stroud based investors and spearheaded by production company Fablemaze. It has won 12 awards on the festival circuit including at the San Diego International Film Festival.

Guy said: "Philophobia is the summer that our teens didn’t get to have this year because of COVID - that last week of exams, partying, school pranks, last chance relationships with the crush you’ve had for years, reconciliation and solidifying friendship before school is done for good and you’re moving on. The process all along with this movie has been a fully independent production. No government or grant money. Low budget and a grassroots funding effort in the local area where the film was made and we’ve gone to cinemas directly to make this release happen.” www.theislandcinema.com
