Blackpool cigarette art museum now available to view online

An exhibition of cigarette art in Blackpool is now live to view online after Covid 19 meant the doors of the gallery at 100 Central Drive had to be shut.

Retired pharmacist Negweny El Assal who designed and put together the collection of collages made from discarded tobacco butts has installed a web camera which has enabled people to view the arts worldwide.

Negweny colleced cigarette ends from the streets around his Palatine Road home picking around 120,000 as part of a one-man clean-up campaign.

He has then transformed them into framed mosaics with the plans to exhibit the works as an educational initiative to persuade people to give up smoking.

He said: "I decided to fix and online live web camera in the gallery so viewers will be able to enjoy viewing my arts worldwide and spread the word of Blackpool and to help encourage more people to stop smoking.

"The project is online live and will be modified and updated regularly."
