Dr Haze, creator of The Circus of Horrors, which is at the Pleasure Beach Globe from Thursday to Saturday has written to Prime Minister David Cameron and started an e-petition on the direct.gov website requesting that Halloween becomes an official public holiday.
If the petition reaches 100,000 signatures then it will eligible for debate in the House of Commons.
Preston-born Dr Haze said: “Halloween is becoming more and more popular. All the theme parks are having Halloween based attractions as are most night clubs and pubs. The shops are always full of Halloween items and the date always coincides with half term so it would be logical to have it as an alternative to a move that has already been suggested to move the May Day one to around this time.”
The link to sign the petition is http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/19631
Performances are Thursday and Friday at 8pm and Saturday at 8pm.
