The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show began life on BBC 6Music, and has grown to become the channel’s biggest programme, cementing Craig’s place as the station’s longest-serving DJ.

Specialising in classics from the 50s to 80s golden age of American and Northern Soul, Red Dwarf and Coronation Street star Craig has also been taking the show out on the road for several years now, touring a night of diverse entertainment that’s guaranteed to fill any dance floor.

After a sell-out show earlier this year, Craig Charles is returning to the city tonight to host one of his famous Christmas parties at 53 Degrees in the UCLan Students ’Union.

And he’s bringing a few friends along too… Preston’s newest funk sensation The Templebys kick things off with a refined combination of funk, soul and pop which has been compared to the Amy Winehouse backers The Dap Kings and has proved a huge hit with critics and crowds alike.

Joining them will be Dr. Syntax & The Mouse Outfit, a 10 piece Liverpool and Manchester based act who have supported everyone from The Sugarhill Gang to Akil the MC from Jurassic 5. They recently had the honour of being handpicked to play a BBC session by Mark Lamarr.

On the DJ front, local decksmiths Paul Thornton and Chris Holt, will be showing why they’re Preston’s most eclectic DJ tag team. Seasoned club and festival regulars, Thornton and Holt originally supported Craig back in March and impressed the crowds, along with the man himself, so much that they were asked back in a featured slot.
