A Blackpool pair whose less than tuneful audition for TV’s X Factor left them rowing with judge Gary Barlow today admitted they entered the show just for a “laugh”.
Ryan Ruckledge, 21, and Liddia Railton-Newby, 23, failed to win over the judges on Saturday with their rendition of Flip and Fill’s ‘Shooting Star’.
But despite trading insults with Take That star Gary and co-judge Louis Walsh, Mr Ruckledge insists he was just having a bit of fun.
In fact, the 21-year-old, who lives near Stanley Park, said he hoped the exposure might help him land a job on TV – but definitely not as a singer, he insisted.
He said: “It was just about having a laugh – we know we can’t sing.
“We are auditioning for Britain’s Got Talent next month as break dancers and we’re certainly not going to hold back.”
He even said he hopes to be back in front of the X Factor judges next year – but it might be time to go solo.
He added: “I just wanted to be on the X Factor.”
But the judges might be hoping once was enough for him after Gary was told he was “past it” and Louis informed he “wouldn’t know what talent was if it hit him in the face with a brick”.
