Hollywood director has spoken of his excitement at switching on Blackpool Illuminations.

The megastar has been a regular visitor to Blackpool in recent years, spending a fortnight in the resort in May to shoot scenes for his latest film Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children.

And in the past, he made US band The Killers’ music video for single Here With Me, starring Winona Ryder.

Following his recent stay in town, he was invited to be the Illuminations Switch-On star this year.

Ahead of tomorrow’s iFest Switch-On celebrations he said: “I was honoured to be asked to switch-on the Blackpool Illuminations for 2015.

“I am a huge fan of Blackpool so I was very excited to film here.During the shooting process everyone made us feel extremely welcome and we really enjoyed our time here.

“As a result, to be given the town’s highest honour is incredible and I’m really excited. I’m sure it will be a wonderful show.”

Burton is the main feature of the star-studded concert at the Tower Festival Headland tomorrow night, with pop stars The Vamps, Lawson, Professor Green, Little Boots and many more all on stage.

Tim, who has previously referred to himself as Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s biggest fan, will turn on this year’s Illuminations in front of a crowd of 20,000 people.

Hollywood A-lister, Samuel L Jackson, was among the members of Burton’s cast involved in the shoot on the Promenade and inside Blackpool Tower earlier this year.

The film, which has a UK release date of February 16, will showcase Blackpool to a world-wide audience.
