Blackpool’s Winter Gardens is joining in the ‘Black Friday’ trend today, offering show-goers discount prices for 24 hours only.
The venue has cut prices on 15 events by up to 75 per cent for the flash sale, which sees companies and shops nationally slashing prices ahead of Christmas.
The American tradition has become a major shopping day internationally so theatre bosses in the resort are hoping to use it to pass on savings after a boom year for the business.
‘Black’ refers to shops seeing it as a day to move from the red to the black in accounting - but since the Winter Gardens reported more than one million people had visited it this year alone, bosses say sales will only add to its successes of 2014.
Tickets to see festive films in the Opera House will be just £1, while entry into new attraction Illuminasia can be bought for just £5.
And tickets for top musical Jesus Christ Superstar are set to be selling with a 31 per cent discount today.
A spokesman for the Winter Gardens said: “We’ve had a fantastic year and wanted to give something back ahead of Christmas to our patrons.
“Black Friday is an ideal time when people are looking for savings and Christmas gift ideas.
“We’ve put together a wide range of events and offers to encourage more people to enjoy what we have offer.”
