TONIGHT’S Grand Theatre star Ida Barr is nothing like your average granny!

The cunningly disguised creation of Christopher Green (who also appears as country star Tina C), Ida Barr is an old age pensioner who has mixed the music of today’s youth with her own rap to create Artificial Hip Hop!

If you’re a lover of fresh and funky phat rhymes about prescription medication, multi-cultural Britain and home helps who have a phobia of dusting dado rails, then Ida Barr’s Variety Parade is for you.

Ida Barr is a music hall singer who has embraced hip hop and rap, reflecting the culturally diverse landscape of the London’s East End, where she has been living in retirement for several decades.

She lives in Thabo Mbeki Court, shops at Lidl, has a warden called Mrs Gupta and a friend called Maude Edwardes (an elderly male impersonator with a shady past).

She’s an inner city pensioner in multi-cultural coalition Britain; her glory days are behind her, but her creativity is still flowering.

Ida has released several albums, Artificial Hip Hop and Slipped Disco. Her latest is called Get Old Or Die Tryin’. Marawa the Amazing will be joining Ida on stage. Shaking and spinning her way around the world Marawa has performed just about everywhere, wowing audiences from Glastonbury, the Edinburgh Festival and Melbourne to last year’s Showzam! at the Grand Theatre.

Also appearing will be The Two Wrongies celebrating and re-interpreting the classic double act in a funny, crude, unrestrained and female kind of way.

Subverting the ‘locker room’ mentality they bravely and playfully explore the female sexual psyche in a show that isn’t for the faint-hearted.

Romany is an original, zany and theatrical magical artiste. She is the current Magic Circle, Stage Magician of the Year and the only female to be awarded this prestigious accolade.

Frayed Knot’s Ed Muir, Bikini Beach Band, Tina C and Chris Circus complete the line-up of acts taking to the stage with Ida Barr.
