West End and 60s pop star star Lyn Paul is to lead the cast in Blood Brothers at Blackpool Winter Gardens next year.
Despite hopes of a homecoming show for Blackpool’s Maureen Nolan, the singing sibling has been signed for another tour in the new year.
But Lyn will make a welcome return to the iconic Mrs Johnstone role, having first played it in 1997 and playing the show’s final West End performance in 2012.
She has starred in the UK tour of Cabaret in 2013 as Fraulein Schneider, in Boy George’s musical Taboo and in Footloose - the Musical.
Lyn rose to fame in the early 1970s as a member of the New Seekers.
Winter Gardens managing director Michael Williams said: “We are delighted to hear Lyn Paul will be heading to Blackpool in Blood Brothers.
“The Opera House has a long history with the show having welcomed it here a number of times and to be announcing a star of such standing is to be taking the all-important role of Mrs Johnstone is great.”
