Ex-Eastender Emma Barton and Gavin Spokes have been spotted in the resort of Salford-on-Sea, as the National Theatre’s smash-hit comedy One Man, Two Guvnors returns to the North West.
The popular play runs at The Lowry until Saturday, creating a seaside resort vibe at The Quays in keeping with the One Man, Two Guvnor’s Brighton setting, and ‘end of the pier’ laugh-out-loud, slapstick comedy and song.
Gavin Spokes takes the central role of lovable chancer Francis Henshall – made famous by James Cordon – with Emma Barton as Dolly.
Gavin most recently played Parsons in the original Almeida/Headlong production of 1984, which toured to Blackpool last year, albeit with a different cast, and has also appeared in One Man in the West End.
Emma is best known to TV viewers for her role as Honey Mitchell in BBC1’s EastEnders, while theatre work includes Doctor in the House (UK tour), Lily in Annie at West Yorkshire Playhouse and Roxie Hart in Chicago (West End and UK tour).
One Man, Two Guvnors also stars Norman Pace, of much-loved comedy duo Hale and Pace.
Directed by Nicholas Hytner, One Man, Two Guvnors has been described as a glorious celebration of British comedy – a unique, laugh-out-loud mix of satire, songs, slapstick and glittering one-liners.
One Man, Two Guvnors, is at The Lowry, Salford Quays, until Saturday. Tickets from £19 on 0843 208 6000.
