A former Blackpool theatre student has landed a lead role in a new production of Lord Of The Flies.

Now on a national tour, after opening at London’s Regents Open Air Theatre - to five-star reviews, Anthony Roberts plays Piggy in the adaptation.

Anthony, 24, and originally from Glasgow, studied at Blackpool And The Fylde College and is represented by Red Door - the adult branch of Blackpool’s Scream Talent Agency.

He said: “It’s unbelievable. I still don’t believe it now. I felt very, very happy when I received the news.

“My mum and my best friend are coming to see me perform so it’s going to be a very special moment.

“It’s like they have hand picked all the best places to tour in and we’re going to them. A lot of actors dream of stuff like this and I’m lucky enough to be living it. It’s also been very intense fitness wise, there’s been a lot of stage combat and training involved.”
