More than 65 years after making his stage debut - in Blackpool no less - the ever-popular puppet will be on stage for Easter.
And the bear will be getting ready for an egg-citing journey ‘over the rainbow’ to see The Wizard Of Oz in this special show.
Sooty, Sweep, and Soo, as well as Richard Cadell from CITV’s The Sooty Show, will follow the Yellow Brick Road to Preston’s Charter Theatre to appear on Sunday, April 10.
Sooty’s pal Richard Cadell, said: “Sooty, being a brilliant magician, is very excited about meeting the great Wizard himself and Sweep has borrowed Sooty’s water pistol to squirt the Wicked Witch - though I’d bet it’s the audience that’s in for the drenching.”
The pals are promising a ‘magical panto, featuring a fabulous supporting cast, spectacular scenery and costumes, a live band, dazzling dance routines, great songs and buckets of laughter’.
‘Rising star’ Leah Murphy is the homesick heroine Dorothy, Sean Rollo Rollason plays the Tin Man in search of a heart, and Neil Hurst will be the cowardly Lion.
Sooty added: “I think Richard is perfectly cast as the scarecrow as he’s never had a brain! The panto is going to be a spectacular giggle for the whole family and I can’t wait to meet all my fans after the show - Izzy Wizzy - see you all in Oz.”
