The 40th anniversary Fylde Folk Festival has scooped Show of Hands as its bill toppers for 2012.
Show of Hands is acknowledged as the finest acoustic duo in England and has been voted best folk duo three times on the BBC Folk Awards and fill the Royal Albert hall on every appearance.
They will be headlining the Sunday night concert.
Another highlight of this year’s festival is John Tams - actor, singer, composer and songwriter who is a five times winner of the BBC Best Folk Performer award.
John was the song maker for the immensely successful National Theatre production Warhorse and liaised with the composer John Williams with music for the film version as well.
Vin Garbutt is returning to Fleetwood for the festival along with Bob Fox, Grace Notes (celebrating their 20th anniversary), Gary and Vera Aspey and Strawhead.
Following the festival’s long term objective of encouraging young performers acts such as The Young ‘Uns, The Outside Track, Paul McKenna Band, Harpeth Rising (from the USA) and Dana & Susan Robinson (also from the USA) will also be featured.
The 40th Fylde Folk Festival takes place from Friday August 31 until Sunday September 2 at various venues throughout Fleetwood and features more than 200 performers at 135 different events.
