Blackpool five-piece thrash metal band Severance is hoping the next 12 months will see them take off big style.
The band, which plays covers and originals, has notched up several gigs over the past few months – including a couple at town centre rock headquarters the Cedar Tavern, and a couple more at Poulton Community Centre – and are looking for more in the near future.
“We’ve had a good response in terms of attending audience and feedback and have managed to get more gigs each time,” said guitarist Mark Millard. “We’re also looking to record some demos of our originals so far, to give our fans something back, and to have a sample of our sound to try and get further in terms of venues and opportunities.
“Overall we’re a hard-working band. Three of us are taking either a triple or double BTEC Music course at Blackpool Sixth Form College, and are looking to harness the skills we’ve been taught to try and get a career in the music industry.
“With weekly rehearsals and material writing sessions on-going, we’ve got an EP planned for when we can afford to get to that stage, and more songs in the process to be made.”
The band comprises Mark Millard (guitar), Matt McLoughlin (guitar), Kyle Worrall (bass), Matt Longshaw (drums and backing vocals) and Josh “Flash” Greenwood (vocals).
