Blackpool’s Randy Ron dance brand is going global.
Less than three years after being launched at Poulton nightclub The Residence, by friends Alex Huckerby and recent Radio 1 DJ competition winner Danny Howard, the concept has been snapped up by superbrand Hed Kandi.
Randy Ron started as an idea to put on a small, city-style event for all their friends and Residence regulars, but took off big style when the two Blackpool friends soon found themselves in demand all over the North-West, culminating in a regular spot at the late lamented Syndicate in Blackpool.
Their events have catered for sell-out crowds, from intimate nights to mini festivals, and have often included major talent/DJs such as Laidback Luke and most recently, one of the biggest chart superstars of the year, Example.
The partnership say their success is down to dividing their talents – Alex looking after the business acumen and marketing, and Danny looking after production, music and entertainment.
“We are surprised and humble that all our hard work and efforts since we started is paying off, as the high volume of people we have through our doors, at various venues, and that it continues to grow,” said Danny. “It’s with thanks to our loyal following that has made this night a success.”
Their growing reputation as promoters and event organisers has now come to the attention of Hed Kandi, which has now taken them on as part of its team – Alex as marketing consultant and Danny as DJ, with both putting in a joint role on the promotions front.
Along with regular work on the Hed Kandi events, their first project is to front a Hed Kandi Student tour in October/November this year, presented by the Randy Ron team.
Sam Cannon, head of events at Hed Kandi, said: “Hed Kandi is very excited about the prospect of working with Randy Ron with pushing the brand forward in the student market.
“Alex had some fantastic ideas at Randy Ron that he brought to the table, and we are looking forward to bringing these to life and entertaining all those at college and university, giving students a taste of Kandi during the best years of their lives.”
