Blackpool’s Dead Good Poets Society welcomes Joseph Delaney, author of the popular Spook’s Apprentice series (The Wardstone Chronicles) to its latest meeting on Friday at the No 5 Cafe in Cedar Square, Blackpool.

This month the theme is ‘Family Friendly’ and children are welcome to attend the entire event from 6 to 9pm (ish).

Joseph is a local author, born and still living in Lancashire.

He draws much of his inspiration from the Lancashire landscape and mythology.

His books have been translated into 24 languages.

He was a teacher at Blackpool sixth form college before he retired to become a full time writer.

Joseph’s most recent book – I Am Grimalkin – was published at the start of the month and he will be reading an excerpt from it and will be available to sign copies at the event.

As usual, the theme is optional and the evening will be divided into up to four sections of poetry and prose.

Children in particular are encouraged to write some verse and get up behind the microphone.
