TOXIC Events is bringing Northern Soul Legend Nolan Porter to Blackpool on July 14 to Uncle Tom’s Cabin.
The band is also currently touring with The Specials.
The first time Nolan hit the charts, he didn’t even need a last name. Adopted in the UK by the Northern Soul scene, he was best known for such hits as Keep On Keeping On, If I Could Only Be Sure and Oh Baby.
Supporting band The Quangos were recently described in a national newspaper as ‘musically bridging the generation gap’.
Although still in their early 20s they are heavily influenced by the 60s, ranging from Motown to The Spencer Davis Group.
With the launch of their new EP Spring Sessions, The Quangos are bringing back the sound of the 60s with a modern twist. With fans such as Shaun Ryder and Bez from the Happy Mondays, they are tipped to put a massive dent in the music scene this year.
The night will be a Northern delight with one of the North West’s top floor fillers F.L Jones spinning the discs. Fay has been on the soul scene for many years, but prefers to be known for the gigs she does now at the likes of Bury Verve and Bolton All Nighters, as opposed to just harking back to her days at the Wigan Casino and Twisted Wheel.
The doors open at 7pm till late. Tickets can be obtained from toxicevents.net or from any of the Toxic Events team on Facebook. Admission is £10 advance and £12 on the door.
