Next month’s Blackpool Pride has announced one of the strongest ever line-ups for the annual event.
Blackpool Pride 2011 will take place over the weekend of June 11 and 12 on North Pier.
Entry is by wristbands costing £7 (over 18s) and £5 (10 to 17’s).
Events on the Pier will be held in four main areas – the main stage (headline acts), solarium arena (general family entertainment with DJs and cabaret acts throughout the day), Carousel Bar and Lounge (adult area with drag acts, comedy and DJ’s), the Merrie England (“Gurl” Power featuring only female talent).
The day starts at 11am with a march snaking through the town centre with colourful display of costumes.
North Pier events start at noon with an opening ceremony followed by a full day of entertainment in the four key areas.
The pier will also have stalls for both sales of goods and information literature about various organisations and agencies connected to the LGBT Community.
The events will continue until 8pm then the Merrie England will turn into a dance arena to host a night of stylish clubbing until around 1am.

Acts confirmed so far include Sinitta, Diva Fever, Toyah, The Reason, Niqi Brown as Tina Turner, Rylan, Boy George Experience, Faces Of Disco, Topping and Butch, Cookie, Mandy Gap, Kitty Litter, Joanna Shorrock, Chelsea Stevens, Valentino King, My Winehouse (Amy Winehouse tribute), Pink tribute, Roberts ‘N’ Ashcroft, Vicki Moran and Granny Pride.
Major sponsors of the main stage this year are Ma Kellys/ Frankie’s Lounge on Talbot Road.
Frankie’s Lounge will also have a big special event over the weekend of Pride with headliner acts on the Friday.
