The winner of the 2011 Grand Words competition, run by Blackpool Grand Theatre and Stage Write, will be announced tomorrow. Now in its third year, Grand Words looks for new, one act plays that can be performed by no more than four actors. The winning playwright receives £100 and a handmade trophy, as well as a theatrical premiere of the play in the Lawrence House Studio in November next year.
Ian Lamond, who runs Stage Write, said: “This year’s Grand Words has produced a rich crop of high quality scripts. From comedy and drama, from the surreal to glimpses into the future, entries have come in from across the region. Manchester and Merseyside – Cumbria and Cleveleys – Blackburn and Blackpool – this year has shown the region to be a rich source of creative talent.”
The winning script will be announced at 7pm tomorrow in the Grand Theatre’s Lawrence House Studio.
