MISERY Of Sound’s eighth session of the year is an international affair with Austrailian band The Dark Shadows promoting their their latest EP.
Support comes from Derby based psychobilly rock and rollers The Speed Kings and from the Midlands with their resheduled gig at MOS, Lesbian Bed Death
Sydney-based The Dark Shadows take gentle and dark melodies and combine them with loud and fast punk rock, add the creeping sound of guitars and believe me the result will throw you for a loop.
Representing a largely overlooked corner of the alternative genres, the band combines the brooding, vaudevillian mystique of The Damned, the cut-throat candy sweetness of Debbie Harry and the talent of Gene Vincent into a unique sound that’s both alluring and slightly sinister.
The independent three piece has toured throughout Australia, USA, UK, Europe and Japan playing with bands such as Glasvegas (UK), Hugh Cornwell (The Stranglers, UK), Skeletal Family (UK), Der Fluch (Germany), Marky Ramone (USA), Christian Death (USA), The Stray Cats (USA), Sham 69 (UK) and Meteors (UK).
The band has also appeared at international festivals. Having just released their new single, Written In The Snow on Limited Edition 7 inch collectible white vinyl they are now launching their new EP, 11:11.
Main support comes from Derby based The Speed Kings. They exploded onto the UK psychobilly and punk scene just over five years ago and have been tearing up venues across the length and breadth of the UK generating a large and loyal following playing as far afield as St Petersburg in Russia.
Having had airtime on Radio 1 as well as numerous American radio stations and supported every major UK and European psychobilly band since their inception they quickly became an established part of the UK psychobilly scene and have also crossed over into playing numerous punk/ speedrock shows and festivals. Following the success of their critically-acclaimed debut album Speed Kings are gearing up to release a series of new releases throughout this year and 2013 with a new line-up and a renewed energy.
Lesbian Bed Death from the Midlands combines goth punk and rock and are also currently on a UK tour promoting their latest release Riot Of The Living Dead.
The night starts at 8pm on Thursday and runs until midnight at The Tavern on Church Street, Blackpool,. Admission is £3 with DJ Grimly Fiendish spinning music in between bands. It’s an 18+ gig, updates can be found on www.miseryofsound.co.uk
