There’s no chance of leisure bosses skating on thin ice at Blackpool’s historic Arena –
after it picked up a host of top industry awards.

The Blackpool Pleasure Beach Arena has been named best rink in the UK for ice quality and its annual festival is the ice cream of the crop.

In the latest Lambco Awards, several coaches at the rink were named best in the UK, while the Arena itself was chosen as having the best atmosphere in the UK and announcer Jason Taylor was named the nation’s best for his work during the ice festival.

Several of the Pleasure Beach’s skate stars also
received gold and silver awards, including Hot Ice star Kate Stainsby.

Lambco Skating is a website which shares success and news from the UK figure skating community and from rinks up and down the country.

The quality of the ice at the Arena led the venue to skate away with the ‘favourite rink in the UK’ title for the third year running.

Thousands of votes were cast for the online poll with a number of skating venues around the UK vying for the awards.

David Bailey, Arena duty manager, said: “We are
delighted to win these awards from the UK skating community.

“A lot of hard work and dedication goes into making The Arena one of the best places for ice skaters across the UK and beyond to learn their skills.

“During the past year I had a number of judges and customers remarking about the standard of the ice and how clean it was.

“These comments are always great to hear and shows the hard work of the staff at The Arena is really paying off.”

The world famous Blackpool Pleasure Beach Arena is the oldest purpose-built ice theatre in the world and home to the Hot Ice Show.

The glamourous display of daring skills returns to the resort with its Desire show on Thursday July 2, running until September 5.

This year’s Ice Skating Festival takes place from April 7 to 11. Visit www. pleasurebeacharena.co.uk for details.
