Pacha’s Blackpool Christmas Ball is another week nearer.

Former Blackpool DJ Ric Porteus, who is now based in Ibiza, says the December 22 Ball is the natural successor to the late Chris Dearden’s once classic events.

“Welcome to the ‘New Era’,” he says. “This year the Ball returns bigger and better than before with a whole new production team, a fresh and vibrant concept, a sound, visual and light show to rival any Ibizan or stadium event.

“Blackpool Tower Ballroom has played host to some amazing acts and Strictly Come Dancing showcased the venue in all its glory to the world. We are so pleased to be hosting the ‘New’ Blackpool Christmas Ball where this event belongs.

“The original Blackpool Christmas Tree Ball was one of the most anticipated events in the Blackpool calendar. It was an occasion for the town to dress up, meet up and celebrate the Christmas holidays in style. This year Pacha, Ibiza’s and the world’s most famous club, joins us to create a magical event in the Tower Ballroom. This is the start of a ‘New Era’ and we aim to bring world class artists, DJs, live bands and performers to thrill and entertain you every Christmas at The Tower.”

The two main partners behind the new event are Ric Porteus and Kevan Schools, both Blackpool boys born and bred.

Ric now lives and works all year round in Ibiza where he spends most of his time immersed in the House Music scene working on projects for Pacha Group, overseeing their online business interests and running his own creative agency, Recode Ibiza.

Kevan Schools has been involved in the live music and clubbing scene in Blackpool, London and West Yorkshire for over 30 years now. He caught the tail-end of the Northern Soul phenomenon of the 1970’s, attending the legendary all-nighters at Wigan Casino and all-dayers at Blackpool Mecca whilst still at school. In the 80s he got involved in several bands, singing, writing and producing – notably the recently revived Touch the Pearl.
