Former X Factor star Rebecca Ferguson is to play a tour warm-up show at Blackpool’s Viva cabaret bar.
The Liverpudlian singer, who came runner up in the 2010 series of the show, has been named among the headline acts for a new series of Sunday Seaside Specials.
Blackpool and the Fylde appears to be a favourite destination for the talented vocalist, after she played the Illuminations Switch-On Weekend last year, and is heading to Lowther Pavilion as part of the newly-expanded Lytham Festival in August.
Her Viva show Lady Sings The Blues, on Sunday, September 6, will be a warm up to her solo headline tour, which will come to the Opera House in the new year.
Also heading for the Church Street night spot for the Sunday specials are resort regular Billy Pearce, residents Cannon and Ball, and ‘formerly of’ Bucks Fizz will make a return after a successful show last month.
Viva director Martin Heywood said the venue was proud and excited to host the star.
“This is a great chance for fans to see Rebecca Ferguson in an intimate venue, up close and personal,” he said.
“We are expecting it to be a really special show with a full band warming up for her tour.
“We’re expecting it to have a different feel to a traditional theatre show, with the chance for Rebecca to talk to the audience as well as sing.
“She’s the first artist that we have secured, where we are stepping up our shows to another level.
“Lady Sings The Blues is a really special album - covering Billie Holiday’s classic is a big thing to do - so you can expect a great live show.”
Billy Pearce will launch the Sunday season with his Laughter Show on Sundays, July 19, August 30 and October 25, while Canon and Ball with the Harper Brothers will present Sunday Night Live on September 13.
Further acts are to be announced for the Sunday Seaside Specials.
