The first in a series of monthly festivals for young people was launched in style by Bloc Roc, showcasing urban dance, art and music to Blackpool’s teenagers.

The event on Saturday gave 13-to 16-year-olds opportunities to learn how to skate, DJ, dance and create graffiti.

Organiser Kat Pesaran said: “It was fantastic. This is giving them entertainment and giving them creative education.

“We just want to give these young people some respect so they respect themselves and other people.”

Dance instructors from FY West Coast, Leo Oppenheim from Flowskate and Rock Hard Recording Studio were on hand to teach youngsters urban dance, skating and DJ skills.

And young bands, including Myth Of Unity, entertained the crowd at The Oracle, in South Shore.

The event was a pre-launch for Bloc Roc’s festival to be held in the Winter Gardens on October 19.
