A national tour has been announced for a new musical receiving its world premiere in Blackpool.
Last Night A DJ Saved My Life opens at the Opera House in October, ahead of a series of dates around the country.
And show star David Hasselhoff has launched a video, which can be seen on the Gazette website, speaking of his excitement at the 90s nostalgia trip the show promises.
Speaking about the show The Hoff, as he is known to his millions of fans, said: “See it. Believe it. Live it. This is my motto and I am living it now.
“I can’t wait to bring something new and different to UK theatre audiences.
“I absolutely love live theatre and the interaction with the audience.
“To play a character that I can relate to while celebrating an era of fantastic music is going to be Hofftastic.
“Come party Hoffstyle!
“This is going to be a great production and I can’t wait to see the audience reaction. I guarantee you will be singing all night long.”
In Last Night A DJ Saved My Life, the Hoff plays an extrovert, party-going DJ and nightclub owner on Ibiza at the start of the 90s.
But when his teenage daughter arrives unexpectedly to stay for the summer and he has to cope with being a single parent to a girl who wants to meet boys and live the party life – and his motto becomes “Do as I say, not as I did!”
The world premiere for Last Night A DJ Saved My Life takes place at the Opera House on Friday, October 16, with a run until Saturday, October 31.
Show producer Jon Conway has previously spoken of his desire to draw on local residents’ experiences of the early 90s club culture.
Jon said: “We’re looking for readers of The Gazette to share their memories of things to go in the show.
“In a sense, it’s going to be Blackpool’s musical.
“The show will be going worldwide after the premiere here.”
