Thousands of dance music fans packed North Pier for a ‘unique’ festival, celebrating under the summer sun.
Pier Jam’s first event of the season took off, with a sell out crowd dancing over the Irish Sea, to a top international line up of acts.
Event director James Cohen said the festival had passed without incident, and the sell-out event had been a big success.
“With maximum numbers on the pier, it was an amazing day,” he said. “The weather was unreal, and we couldn’t have asked for more on our first outing.
“We had some great feedback and are all ready for the next event on July 18 with MK.
“For a first event, I think we really cracked it.”
The French duo Amine Edge and Dance headlines, with other acts including Radio DJ Annie Mac’s favourite Chris Lorenzo, rising stars on the German scene Adana Twins and Endor among others.
Music lovers travelled the length of the country to attend the festival, which took over on three stages at the sea end of North Pier, running from 2pm until 10pm on Saturday.
And, according to organisers’ statistics, the majority of attendees were from outside the Blackpool area.
“Many were from the North West, down so far as London and the Midlands too, as well as Scotland,” James added.
“The national pull came thanks to the talent that we had on.
“It’s great to have something bringing people in to Blackpool, who will have also spent money in restaurants and shops locally too.”
A second event will take place on Saturday, July 18, with MK, whose hits include Look Right Through and Night Crawlers Push The Feeling On, as well and production and remixes for Ellie Golulding and Lana Del Ray. Further dates and acts are to be confirmed.
