For singer and dancer Karin Bello, her first summer in Blackpool is bringing back some special memories.
But starring in Trevor Change’s Legends at Sands Venue on Cenral Promenade is ‘simply the best’.
Karin has joined the tribute show’s cast as Tina Turner, with her next stint coming up from Thursday.
“I started as a professional dancer/singer in Cats when I was 16 so it’s great to have the chance to see it again during its Opera House run,” the Californian-born performer, who started singing as a student at Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, said.
“I haven’t had chance to catch it yet but I’ve heard great things about it and it would bring back great memories – no pun intended.”
She had also heard great things about the award- winning Legends show in which she stars alongside tributes to Michael Jackson, Robbie Williams and Meat Loaf.
“I never thought I’d be sharing a stage with those guys,” she added. “But before my stay in Blackpool is over wouldn’t it be crazy for a bunch of us from Legends to be photographed in full costume going down a roller-coaster at the Pleasure Beach? Maybe even the Big One if I could hold on to my wig!”
Cats isn’t the only stage musical Karin has appeared in – her stage CV also includes roles in Rent, Miss Saigon, Singing In The Rain and The Music Man.
But the highspots of her career so far have been at Opera Lensa in Poland at a televised music festival in front of 3,000 people, and the 25th anniversary of Miss Saigon with Jonathon Pryce, Lea Salonga and the show’s original cast.
After so many musicals she admits she has looked forward to her Blackpool season.
“Working in a show environment again with so many excellent dancers, musicians, performers and full company is great – and I get the chance to sing my favourite Tina Turner song – We Don’t Need Another Hero – every night.”
Karin returns to Sands on Thursday, until Wednesday, August 26, appearing alongside Michael Jackson, Robbie Williams and Meatloaf.
