NEXT week’s Blackpool Keyboard Club guest, Tim Butterworth, began playing the organ at the age of four, influenced by his parents who had a home organ.

Showing a keen interest and ability, Tim started formal piano tuition from the age of six and progressed through to Grade 8 level by 15.

His interest in the organ stemmed from regular visits to Blackpool Tower Ballroom and the Cliffs Hotel at Blackpool North shore, where for many years, Tim travelled with his family to visit Peter Jebson, who provided inspiration and guidance (and continues to do).

Tim grew up in Gloucestershire performing his first concert aged 14 and has continued since to give regular concert performances on both theatre and electronic instruments.

Tim had always balanced a professional ‘day job’ with his musical work.

However, in May 2006, together with his wife Sam, he relocated to Woodbridge, Suffolk and turned professional.

Last year Tim decided they should move back to the Fylde and they now live near Kirkham

Tuesday will be Tim’s second visit to the club and he will be Blackpool Keyboard Club is pleased to welcome Tim on Tuesday August 9th – actually his second visit – when he will be playing his Yamaha Tyros Keyboard/pedalboard set-up.
