TICKETS for Gary Barlow’s solo show in Blackpool have sold out in near record time.
Fans of the Take That vocalist and X Factor judge inundated ticket lines as soon as they went on sale yesterday.
He will be performing his hits on stage at the Opera House on January 4.
David Gore, Winter Gardens marketing manager, said, although he could not give an exact time the last ticket was snapped up, it was one of the fastest sell-outs they had ever had.
He said: “As expected there was a huge demand for tickets when they went on general sale at 10am.
“Demand and excitement had been building all week since Gary announced the concert on his website.
“We are thrilled he chose Blackpool and our venue.”
Mr Gore said Gary could have had his pick of all the concert halls in the UK for the tour and the fact he had chosen the Opera House was a great endorsement of a venue popular with acts who wanted an audience of around 3,000.
The Blackpool date is one of 16 shows Gary will be playing, starting on November 13 in Bournemouth and including two in his home city of Manchester.
It is Gary’s first solo tour since Take That reformed six years ago and follows on from two critically acclaimed solo shows at the Royal Albert Hall in London last year.
He said: “I’m really excited about these dates. Playing live is my favourite thing and I haven’t played a solo show for over a year now.
“Last year playing two London shows was brilliant, we all had such a good time, so I thought right let’s get out and see the rest of the country.”
Gary was, this year, named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List and was awarded an OBE for his huge contribution to British music as well as his significant charitable endeavours. He organised the hugely successful Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert outside Buckingham Palace and appeared in the Olympic Games’ closing ceremony.
