The Stone Roses announced their reunion with live shows and the promise of new songs.

Band members had long dismissed talk of ever getting back together after falling apart in 1996.

But they have buried their differences and announced hometown shows at Manchester’s Heaton Park on June 29 and 30, plus further dates around the world.

The Gazette has tickets available for both Manchester gigs including coach travel from Blackpool, Cleveleys, Fleetwood or Preston.

Tickets can be bought online here or alternatively you can call the following numbers 01772 838078 / 01772 838026 / 01772 838179.

Guitarist John Squire said he and singer Ian Brown had met at the funeral of bass player Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield’s mother.

He added: “When me and Ian met by chance it changed everything. In some ways it felt like 15 years ago was yesterday.”

Brown added: “Our plan is to take on the world.”

The band famously played a seminal gig at Blackpool’s Empress Ballroom which helped launch them into the musical stratosphere and cemented the venue’s reputation in musical folklore.

The classic line-up of the band were all present for the announcement including Brown, Squire, Mani (Gary Mounfield) and Reni (Alan Wren).
