Star violinist Alexandra Stemp returns on Saturday to the orchestra which helped put her on the path to a successful career as a professional violinist with major orchestras.

Alexandra will perform virtuoso showstopper Saint Saens Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso at Blackpool Symphony Orchestra’s final concert of the season at 7.30pm at St Andrew’s Church, Rough Lea Road, Thornton Cleveleys.

The concert also features Mozart’s Magic Flute overture, Brahms’ Fourth Symphony and Gounod’s Petite Symphonie for Wind. Alexandra made her concerto debut playing the Bruch violin concerto with the orchestra before studying the violin at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Alexandra, born and raised in Blackpool, says: “It’s a real pleasure to come back and play with the orchestra. As a student the opportunity to perform a concerto with the orchestra at that stage in my career was invaluable.”

Sue Sargent, BSO chairman, says: “Alexandra has been lovely to work with. As well as the violin showpiece, the orchestra has really enjoyed rehearsals over the last few weeks; Helen Harrison (music director/conductor) has really made the Mozart fizz! Please join us for a great concert.”

Tickets £8 on the door.
