A Grammy Award-winning 1980s soul icon will make his UK debut at a Blackpool music weekend.
Kashif wrote and produced with artists such as Whitney Houston, Evelyn King, Melba Moore and Howard Johnson, and will appeal at the Luxury Soul Weekender in the resort on January 8 to 10.
His appearance coincides with the reissue of album 1998 Who Loves You?, a collection of original tracks and featuring musicians including Dwayne Wiggins (Tony Toni Tone), Sheila E, Johnny Britt (Impromp2), Michael White and Larry Kimpel (Maze), Gerald Albright and Gary Taylor.
The soul weekender at the Hilton hotel, North Shore, will mark the launch of Expansion Records’ 30th aniversary celebrations
Kashif will play the Saturday night of the event, aiming to live up to the meaning of his name - ‘inventor, discoverer and magic maker’, backing up his position as R&B Hall Of Fame ‘living legend’.
The label first worked with Kashif on Who Loves You, and is looking forward to celebrating ‘a three decade-long story delivering exceptional new music to a generation of soul music fans disenchanted with the contemporary mainstream’. The Blackpool date promises ‘signature dance floor fillers and ballads from a golden era’ from Kashif.
