Britain’s Got Talent finalists Richard and Adam headed to Viva for a live show ahead of their full UK tour and were clearly quite taken with the venue – describing it as “one of the best nights ever”.
The opera-singing brothers delivered a set of hits from their number one album in a show which also included an impromptu performance from their father Paul Johnson. He came on stage to join the duo to sing Bring Him Home from hit musical Les Miserables.
Each song was introduced with stories from their time on Britain’s Got Talent and how the lads have been preparing for their tour – which has involved learning Italian as many of their set list includes classic Italian opera songs such as O Sole Mio, Volare and Nessun Dorma.
The duo’s fans were clearly out in force with each song receiving a standing ovation and calls for an encore were met with the title track from their debut album The Impossible Dream.
Afterwards the brothers – who came third in last year’s Britain’s Got Talent – mixed with fans and posed for photographs, and later Tweeted “one of the best nights ever at Viva ... fantastic venue and incredible audience. Thank you x”.
The duo have now headed off on a 15-date UK tour – the nearest they get to these parts is a gig at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall on Monday (February 24).
n There’s a special one-off date by Rat Pack legend Buddy Greco at Viva next month, on March 30. Tickets from £19.90 at www.vivablackpool.com or the box office on 01253 297297.
