X Factor ‘singing binman’ Andy Abraham and Sugababe Jade Ewan (both pictured left) are to head the cast of the Godspell In Concert tour.
The production opens at Hackney Empire in early April before coming to the Grand Theatre, Blackpool, on Sunday and Monday, June 28 and 29.
Jade originally came to fame when she was selected to represent the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2009, siging Andrew Lloyd Webber’s specially-penned song It’s My Time and coming in fifth place – the UK’s best-placing in 13 years.
Former binman Andy came second in the 2005 series of the X Factor, thanks to his big soul sounds, and has since sold out at the Royal Albert Hall and taken national audiences by storm performing with the UK’s top big band on his ownHistory of The Big Bands tour.
Also in the cast are Leanne Jarvis, who won Will.I.Am’s backing on The Voice UK 2013, and Tom Senior as Jesus. He’s a current cast member of Jersey Boys in the West End and has a string of musical theatre credits to his name.
The rock musical was written by Stephen Schwartz, who also wrote West End and Broadway hit musical Wicked.
The concert tour is recruiting local choirs to join the professionals in ensemble roles at each of its destinations.
Tickets cost from £26.50, from the Church Street box office by calling (01253) 290190.
