I LOVE Fleetwood Mac. They’ve been a staple part of my musical diet from a very young age and have provided soundtracks to some of my most memorable times.
But while listening to their albums so regularly might have strengthened my love for the rock band it has possibly diluted my respect for the musicians.
Because it isn’t until you hear songs like Albatross, The Chain, Dreams and of course Big Love played live that you truly appreciate their musical prowess - even if this is musical mimicry.
The Rumours of Fleetwood Mac tour returned to Blackpool Opera House on Wednesday night for their 35th anniversary tour and, well, the rumours are true. They have Fleetwood Mac to a T.
Ben Hughes’ performance of Big Love took nothing away from what is a masterful piece of music.
And with harmonies as tight as Louise Rogan (Stevie Nicks) and Amanda Kostadinov’s (Christine Mcvie) it’s little wonder Mick Fleetwood himself is a fan of these guys.
Sadly, the excitement was perhaps a little too much for some as the solo dancer who was so loved by those not daring enough to dance in the first third of the gig was ceremoniously shouted out of the auditorium later on.
In her absence the whole venue were on their feet for a finale of Tusk which brought the house down and had everyone hoping the tribute band continue for another 35 years.
