British soul star Mica Paris is to headline the cast of new UK musical tour Love Me Tender, inspired by and featuring the music of Elvis Presley.
The tour opens in the North West at Manchester Opera House on Friday, June 5.
Producer Adam Spiegel said: “I’m a huge fan of Mica Paris and as soon as I heard her audition I knew she was perfect for the role of Sylvia. Her incredible, powerful voice and presence does true justice to the greatest hits of the King of Rock and Roll.” Mica Paris (right) is one of the UK’s most respected female singers with a career of top 10 singles and albums worldwide. Mica has collaborated with, and been a special guest for, artists including Prince, Michael Bolton, Dionne Warwick and Jools Holland. Her stage credits include West End productions of Mama I Want To Sing, The Vagina Monologues and Sweet Lorraine as well as a sell-out residency at Ronnie Scott’s Club. Love Me Tender comes from the producers of Hairspray, Jersey Boys and West Side Story, and is written by Joe DiPietro, who’s behind West End hit Memphis.
It’s described as a ‘hilarious feel-good musical’, set in 1950s small town America, where a ‘guitar-playing, hip-swivelling stranger rides his motorbike into town’ leaving tomboy mechanic Natalie love-struck.
