It’s time to make your mind up for a trip back to 1980s Eurovision nostalgia, as former Bucks Fizz stars Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan and Jay Ashton announce a 70-date world tour - starting in Blackpool.

More than 30 years after wowing the crowds to win the Eurovison Song Contest with hit Making Your Mind Up, three of the band’s former members are setting off on the Paradise Regained Tour, which starts at North Pier on Friday, April 3.

The trio, who have been back performing together since 2009, will be joined by a new Bobby, Bobby McVay, in place of Bobby G who was the original fourth member back in 1981.

Cheryl said: “Having performed several gigs with our friend Stephen Fox, Mike, Jay and I realised that people expect to see four on stage when they see Fizz, so we are delighted to introduce Bobby McVay as our guest singer for the tour”.

Bobby and Bucks Fizz go back a long way. He was one third of 1983’s UK entry to Eurovision, Sweet Dreams. In fact he was invited to join them a few years ago, but he was unable to commit to joining them at that time, and Cheryl thinks he will be ‘a real asset to the band’.

Jay added: “As a four-piece, the songs will be heard as they were intended to be heard, with four voices rather than three and the dance routines will have the full effect again.

“We are really looking forward to being on the road again. Performing in a theatre gives us the chance to produce a show we can be proud of, and we truly hope our audiences enjoy hearing the hits once more, together with a few of our lesser known album tracks.”

There’s even going to be some new studio material and the possibility of single releases too.

Recent appearances at the nostalgia festivals, Here and Now, Rewind and forthcoming Let’s Rock have kept Bucks Fizz bubbling over, as fans still sing along and dance to hits they thought they had forgotten.

Bucks Fizz’s legendary skirt-ripping routine sealed their place in Eurovision history, with Making Your Mind up going on to become a number one hit around the world, selling more than 4m copies.

The Paradise Regained Tour will see them take in 70 dates across the UK, Ireland, Europe and even Australia.
