A Blackpool-based singer-songwriter is proving to the world that ‘Fylde’s Got Talent’.
James Edgar, who won the local talent search earlier this year before impressing at Lytham Proms 2014, has signed a lucrative management deal with a music executive in the USA.
The 24-year-old singer and guitarist has continued to impress with gigs across the Fylde coast since warming up for Sir Tom Jones, Michael Ball and a host of 90s acts at the last night of the Proms.
And he has already played his US debut at New York City’s Rockwood Music Hall.
Now he has signed with a top industry representative, in New York, no less.
He is one of two acts to sign with veteran music industry professional R Wayne Martin, of Martin Artist Management.
He said: “Even though I’ve been approached by managers in the UK I’ve always hoped to work with someone like Wayne in the States.
“We have taken quite a long while to get to know each other and make sure we’re the right fit.
“He’s already been so helpful getting a strategy in place and he has introduced me to all kinds of great contacts in America.
“It’s been an amazing ride and it’s just the beginning.”
The deal with the former CBS Records and Sony Music marketer will see James represented for his artist development, fan base cultivation and growth.
James has been busy working on his own original material in recent months, drawing influence from the likes of Coldplay and Eric Clapton.
He also helped to switch on Lytham Christmas Lights, playing to hundreds at the event.
The law graduate is also in the process of writing original material with fellow Fylde musician Danny Wilkin, lead guitarist and background vocalist for Blackpool band Rixton.
