There’s a first birthday party with a difference at Ma Kellys Station tomorrow.
The venue – formerly The Station Hotel on Talbot Road – is celebrating being in business for a year, and is welcoming everyone to join in 14 hours of fun.
Ma Kellys Station was the second of owner Paul Kelly’s outlets – joining his successful venture on Foxhall Road, and later joined itself by the Stanley Arms on Chapel Street.
“The year has gone amazingly well, and has just flown by,” said Ma Kellys general manager Mick Sugden. “It has exceeded expectations right from day one – which is quite an achievement considering the place had been closed for three years before we took it on.
“There’s no secret to its success though – we give people what they want at a price they can afford. And our customers know that they are in a safe environment when they come to us. Customer safety is our first priority.”
Tomorrow’s party starts at 11am and won’t stop until 3am Sunday.
“We’ve got non-stop entertainment, with more than a dozen acts – including an Irish band and a soul band,” said Mick. “And it’s admission free all day and all night.”
The Station’s basement club, Frankie’s, is now operating as a function room and was also doing well, he added.
The Ma Kellys Christmas Show starts on December 21 and runs until January 1.
Mick said that owner Paul Kelly was also looking at opening another venue in 2012.
